Ratings. The pre-election rating for each race is the Cook Political Report's latest (House and Senate Oct 30, governors Oct 29, 2026). Alternate ratings from Inside Elections, Sabato's Crystal Ball and other forecasters are shown in each race's detail view. "Tilt" ratings are grouped with "Lean". House seats that no forecaster lists as competitive are shown as Safe for the incumbent's party (or the only major party on the ballot). Ratings were compiled from Wikipedia's ratings tables and retrieved Nov 1, 2026.

Candidates. General-election candidates as listed on Wikipedia's House, Senate and governor pages, which cite state election offices.

Election night. Vote counts come from official state and county results pages. A race is marked called only when a named news decision desk projects it or the state certifies it; the source appears on the race. Locked in means Safe or called. Leaning means Likely or Lean, shown hatched.

Senate math. 65 seats are not up in 2026 (31 R, 34 D including the 2 independents who caucus with Democrats). Control takes 51 seats, or 50 plus the Vice President's (R) tiebreaking vote.
